BEN SLOAT
Sheep Time is the Clock of our Present
location: Drive-by Projects Windows and AREA CODE Art Fair, 2020
Drive-by projects is pleased to present Ben Sloat’s Sheep Time is the Clock of our Present, a two-channel video/text piece commissioned for the AREA CODE Art Fair.
Installed in our storefront windows, this work pairs a live stream of a sheep barn in upstate New York with text responding to urgent contemporary concerns of institutional power, circularity of time, and everyday reflections. The soothing and mundane behavior of the barn becomes a cipher of sorts: exposing the layered contexts which define our present moment.
Ben Sloat’s Sheep Time is the Clock of our Present was viewed live in the gallery window, 81 Spring Street Watertown, MA as part of the Offline portion of the AREA CODE Art Fair.
